Attica Rage part ways with bassist Colin Wilson and announce replacement

ATTICA RAGE have announced the departure of bassist Colin Wilson. He is due to become a father for the first time in August and, after much thought and consideration, has taken the decision to leave the band in order to devote time to his wife and family at home.

“It’s a hard, sad decision to make but a necessary one” comments Colin. “I’d like to thank every single one of the fans for their total support over the last 2 years and that’s what makes this decision so difficult. I wish the new guy all the very best, he’s a total pro and deserves the same support you all gave me, I have no doubts yer gonna love him. To ma bro’s Richie, Bell and Jonny, thanks for the good times, I wish you all the very best. Massive thanks to Terri, Fleur, MJ and brother JD. Let the good times roll. It’s not goodbye forever. Just goodbye for now.

Colin joined the band in January 2012, following the departure of original member and bassist Big C in late 2011. Over the last two and half years, Colin contributed to the writing and recording of the band’s latest album 88MPH and has been out on the road with the band for two UK headline tours as well as several festival appearances in UK, Belgium and Ibiza. A highlight during this period was Attica Rage performing at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards pre-show boat party on the Thames River in London.

Front-man Jonny Parr adds, “We totally understand and support his decision – there was never any doubt that his wife, family and new baby should take priority.  We wish them all the best and we’re still mates so we’ll be keeping in touch”

With a busy schedule of festivals, touring and song writing ahead of them, Attica Rage are pleased to announce Matthew Ward from East Kilbride, Lanarkshire as the band’s new bass guitarist.  Previously with Glasgow-based band Komatoze, he joins the long-term Attica Rage line-up of Coatbridge guitarist Stevie Bell and Ayrshire brothers and founding members, drummer Richie Rage and singer/guitarist Jonny Parr. Matthew will make his live debut with the band at the Out of the Ashes 2014 festival on Sunday 13 July in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

With three critically-acclaimed albums under their belt and having supported and shared festival bills with the likes of Judas Priest, Slash (ex-Guns n Roses), Black Label Society, Down, Anthrax and Saxon amongst many others, Attica Rage are gaining a large following in the UK and Europe for their hard rock and metal sounds. Signed to Off Yer Rocka Recordings, the band are currently putting together a live album planned for release in late summer and have also started writing new material for their next studio album. The band are due to appear at the Out of the Ashes 2014 festival in July (raising funds for Headbangers Balls / Teenage Cancer Trust) as well as the Northwich Music Festival in August, with other summer dates being confirmed, before heading out on the road for a full UK & European headline tour in September and October. Tickets are on sale for all shows and more information can be found on the official website www.atticarage.com.

We hope our fans will welcome Matthew with open arms and loud cheers this summer”, comments Richie. “With the forthcoming live album celebrating the last couple of years and a brand new album in the works with Matthew now on board, it’s the start of another new exciting chapter…..bring it on!! In Rage We Trust!”

Long Ride Home – Around the World in 88 Days

Long Ride Home - Around the World in 88 DaysTo celebrate the release of new single ‘Long Ride Home’ on 8 July, Attica Rage have set rock & metal fans across the globe a record-breaking challenge:
to pass one copy of their 88MPH album CD around the world in 88 days!

The aim of the game is to cover as many countries in the world as possible, passing the one individual CD album forward each time, making its own ‘long ride home’ back to Glasgow, Scotland by 3 October 2013, in time for the end of the band’s UK album tour. With each participant uploading photos/videos and interacting on the official Facebook Event Page, the band and fans will be able to track the album’s journey as it’s passed across the globe over the following 12 weeks.

Everyone can get involved – whether you are a willing participant or just an enthusiastic supporter, everyone can play a part. Use the Facebook Event Page to message other fans, volunteer, network and become part of this unique heavy metal chain letter!

We need everyone to share this out to as many friends, family and rock & metal fans across the world as possible. This is a huge challenge and one, as far as we know, that hasn’t been attempted before. If you know any radio DJs, journalists, webzine contributors, rock press & media in YOUR country that would be interested to help spread the word, make sure and fire them over the link to the event page.  For more info and rules, visit the 88 Days page on the official website.

At the end of the 88 day challenge, every fan who has taken part, reported in and forwarded the pack on to a new country will be sent their own CD album, signed by the band members, with one lucky fan selected at random receiving a goody bag packed full of Attica Rage 88MPH merchandise!

LONG RIDE HOME – AROUND THE WORLD IN 88 DAYS

New album 88MPH has been snapped up by fans since its release with international sales and positive reviews from the rock press.  ‘Long Ride Home’ is the third single to be released from the album and the band are setting their fans a special challenge:  to pass one copy of the CD album around the world in 88 days and return it back to Glasgow by 3 October, in time for the last date of their UK album tour.

On 8 July, Attica Rage will post a fan in England a pack containing one 88MPH CD album, a world map and Attica stickers – the fan marks their location on the map with a sticker and signature and uploads a photo or video clip of them with the CD to the bands Facebook page.  The fan then posts the CD pack onto another Attica Rage fan in another country, with that next fan repeating the process.  The band and Facebook followers will be able to track the album’s journey as it’s passed across the globe over the following 12 weeks and witness it’s ‘long ride home’ back to Glasgow for the end of the band’s UK tour.  Every fan who takes part, reports in and forwards on the pack will be sent their own CD, signed by the band, at the end of the 88 day challenge, with one participant selected at random receiving a goody bag packed full of Attica Rage 88MPH merchandise.

Full info & details will be posted on the official website and Facebook page on 8 July 2013.

Cambridge Rock Festival 2013 posterAttica Rage also release a new double-track single ‘LONG RIDE HOME’ from 88MPH via Off Yer Rocka on Monday 8th July 2013, available to download from iTunes and all major music stores.  The second track is a previously-unreleased live version of ‘ROAD DOG FOREVER’ and a live video will accompany the release.  A promotional video from album producer roddymacaudio, showing the studio recording of ‘Long Ride Home’, will also be posted online.  Both videos will be available to watch on YouTube.

Those two songs together tell two sides of the same story” explains singer Jonny Parr. “Where Road Dog Forever is an all-out celebration of life on the road and devotion to the rock ‘n roll lifestyle, Long Ride Home is the anti-thesis – it’s the harder part of being away from home, missing loved-ones and ultimately dealing with the choices that have been made along the way.”

New album 88MPH was released worldwide with an official launch at Hard Rock Hell VI last year and has been welcomed by fans with positive reviews amongst the rock press.  ‘Long Ride Home’ is the third single to be released from 88MPH – ‘Killer Carousel’ was available as a free download during the album launch and follow-up single ‘Beyond Forever’ was released in March.
